NEW YORK (AP) Knicks guard Allan Houston sat out Saturday night's game against Philadelphia because of a sore lower back, an injury he said was causing a tingling sensation in his feet.

It was the first time since April 2, 2002 - a span of 103 consecutive games - that Houston was sidelined.
"I just wanted to give it time to heal a little bit. It got to the point where I felt I was pushing it too much," said Houston, who leads New York in scoring with an average of 21.0 points. "When I felt tingling in my feet, I didn't want to mess around with that. A nerve was getting inflamed."
Houston was held to nine points on 4-of-13 shooting against Detroit on Friday night in a loss that dropped the Knicks' record to 3-9. He said he hoped to play Monday at Boston when New York begins a three-game road trip.
The Knicks also were without Keith Van Horn, as he missed his third straight game with a sprained right ankle. Clarence Weatherspoon replaced him in the starting lineup at small forward, and Shandon Anderson started in Houston's place.
Philadelphia was without starters Glenn Robinson (sprained left ankle) and Derrick Coleman (strained left knee).
Van Horn said he expected to return to the lineup sometime next week.
"It's feeling better. Hopefully in the next day or two I'll be able to push it and see how the swelling responds," he said. "It hurts, but hopefully that will diminish over the next couple of days."
